Thats ok.

The connector may not be tight onto the pins and could be causing a bad contact.

Failing that try as MadDan says and fit it to another car and see what happens.

As I understand it (so this is probably wrong) the comms to the steering wheel is essentially two wires, each button then has a resistor on it that 'shorts' the two wires that are of different values. The SAM sees the 'short' and works out the resistance and does the appropriate thing....

I would imagine the transmission to the wheel is via a contact ring and a central connection

Correct on both accounts

Also its worth knowing that the horn is in the same circuit/loop. If the paddles play up again try the horn.

Check the connectors to the back of the wheel they could of worked them self lose (would advise disconnecting the battery for 10mins 1st)

IIRC there is 2 connectors to the back of the wheel its the black one for paddles and horn (red is airbag)

I went out in the roadie earlier and between 3k and 4k the car was shunting, it felt as if the clutch was letting go and slamming back in (the rev gauge worked as normal).

I thought it might be the actuator so i took it off cleaned it out, re-greased it & refitted.

But now the car wont start 1st turn, I have to put it to pos1 wait about 10sec then start it, once started it wont move unless i get the revs up to 4k

The garage has a "duty of care" for as long as they have the car..

The garage has a general duty of care to look after your vehicle while it is in its possession. If the car is damaged at the garage due to staff negligence, repairs, or their cost, it will be the garage's responsibility.
