I find the best thing to do is look out of the window and, if its snowing, ring in sick or take a duvet day and go back to bed.

I've NEVER got stuck in the roadie when doing this. Maybe just a coincidence

...I'm with MD on this, on Wednesday old For-Two was the chosen vehicle (as icy roads and minor threat of snow)...today as it was windy then Roadie was selected. I go for the For-Two as it has managed snow and (not by intention) 18" of flood water (and it's had a good life. If snow is packed into ice then I go round to my neighbours volunteering to be ballast in Series 1 Landrover...modern FWDs can just get you into deeper trouble...give you a false sense of security.

I think it was two or three years ago everyone was stuck on Bodmin Moor on the A30 and once someone stops moving then everyone stops and you end up with a major emergency.

I know it's not easy, I start my journey to work at 250' and go over the north side of Dartmoor (960' which is in a different climate zone...Regards ACE

My offside mirror leaks a little occasionally, and I find that just giving it a little push towards the forward part of the window frame stops it immediately and for quite a while (a few weeks, anyway). I suspect it restarts when something's knocked or leant on the mirror when parked.

You can always hathe original antenna hidden inside the wing, but this takes some cosmetic work and prices may vary.

Ducktape Trim adhesive strips is the most similar thing to he stuff optikon mentioned.. it's like a 1.5mm rubber strip sticky on both sides.. but works well allround on the roadster!

also a nice tub on silicon grease to bring the seals back to life.. small tub £3 deal of the glove box

Glad your ok car may LOOK ok but get it checked out, maybe more damage than you think and SEE A DOCTOR!!!

Q7 is dwarfed by a mitsi delica l400 with a 4" lift kit.... (mine was 7'2" to the roof, 7'8" to the roof crate and had 5' antennas on top of that...) hilarious driving up beside range rovers and looking DOWN through their sunroofs - and quite massively constructed too!

alternative strategy....

mop out best you can....

turn engine on, get up to temp....heater full blast, aircon full blast recirc on inside only...

you have just created a 700 cc de-humidifier!

(tis what car valleters do...)

another trick is o to your local super market...buy a few kg of salt....large tray in boot (roasting tray, kat litter sort of thing....fill with salt it absorbs humidity really quickly...10kg bag of plaster from diy place and same trick is also very effective...but can be messy (plastic sheet first and DONT sneeze lol!)

Saturday weather is looking good...nice long run hood down, heater on will go a long way too!

There appears to be a difference between 'All Season Tyres' and 'Winter Tyres'. Following MD's advice I went for Vredstein 2...'All Season Tyres' last September on steel wheels...but with 205 wide on the back as these tyres are softer.

My choice was not specifically for snow and would be a compromise as I have to deal with mud, slush etc...I assumed that as MDs shed bits around a track that they wouldn't last long or I'd put the aluminium ones back on.

I relooked at the leaflet and seeing the temperature tolerance that unless we had a 1976 summer they were 'All Season'...anyway I've kept them on...they've done 15,000 miles at least and the fronts are still 5mm and the rears are 4-3-4mm so they're staying on for a second winter. They did the Lake District trip and also to Berlin and back and 2 x 600 miles in a day.

If the weather was like your photo then I would have stayed at home...Regards ACE

If you don't want HIDs, then go for PIAA bulbs such as their Xtreme White - I've got these in H7 fitment on our other car (Zafira). They've been on for 2 yrs & 50,000+ miles without blowing.

I imported them from US on ebay - at the time they cost about £35 the pair (better dollar exchange rate than now) inc p&p but well worth it - notably brighter than the OEM bulbs.

This is the cheapest on fleabay right now that I can find...

You were lucky there wasn't much damage, I'd get checked over at the doc's if I were you. I rear ended a Mercedes Vito Taxi with my Landrover a couple of months back, both occupants declined medical assistance at the time, now their claiming for personal injury. Its always worth telling the insurance your neck hurts !!!

If you read my original message you will notice it says RCR ?? notice the question marks.

It's an "Ultimate" one of three final editions for the german market. 54 built, looks like an RCR but with cheap interiour.

Official price was 20.990 €...

Why hasn't that rcr got the matching seats?

It's also quoted at 66bhp (??) and not even badged inside with the number in production.

It clearly states it's a 66kw (thats 90 ps) Brabus Ultimate Coupe. Not a RCR..

Best preventative method ( and this really works, our both our neighbours have cats and none of them come anywhere near our car ) is get a BIG dog... or preferably several
