Smart Roadster:: Ultraseal (Puncturesafe).. good or bad.. your views and advice please
Thanks madDan. I am concerned about the balancing issue and my gut feeling says stay away from this product.

I hear what you are saying about potentially getting a refund. However I can see other potential costs with regard to getting tyres removed, cleaning out the gunk and then re-fitting.

I guess I was hoping somebody, (or even better lots of somebodies), would pop up and say that it was the best thing they ever invested in.

Smart Roadster:: Engine Flush - Good or Bad?
Funny one this, it used to be standard a few years ago on a service to have an engine flush, both smart/MB and indi's used to do this. Also many people claim that you can extract more crud from the engine by using the Pela vacuum pump than with a sump plug.

Saying that, MB and many indi's don't flush the engine on oil change any more, must be a reason, either it does cause problems or it's been dropped due to cost overheads.

JC

Modification:: The best alternative to remapping the Brabus ( oh and its free)
I followed this thread as it was posted and the basic points to me are all logical.
Modifying the opening characteristic of the wastegate (increasing the overall spring rate and/or preload) should provide an increase in 'average' boost and so overall an increase in 'average' torque.
As Big has mentioned this is not a replacement for a professional remap, but as a relatively low risk approach to realising a useful gain it has some value.

Having some time to kill today I armed myself with a few springs and took a softly-softly approach to see what happens.
FYI my Roadster (80ps, not Brabus) is remapped and runs a maximum 1.5bar.
Using a complete absence of science I 'felt' the standard actuator pressure and then stretched a few springs to various lengths to see what they 'felt' like.
I am onto my third spring and have driven around trying to trick into overboost, but so far all seems safe.
Seems to be a useful modification, no increase in maximum boost but a higher 'average' boost level.
To my mind that means more torque more often (area under the curve), nice seat of the pants feel as well.
Given it was about 35deg ambient today I didn't want to go pushing my luck so will leave it like this for a while, until I drive in more conditions and hopefully when the temperature is a little lower, than maybe try increasing the spring preload and closing up the boost a little more.

Worst thing that can happen is that something goes 'bang', in which case I won't do it again
If it all works well I'll see about measuring the spring rate and preload applied for the reference of others.

A small update.
